WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY 2017
Today is World Mental Health Day. Held annually on October 10th, the day is used to educate individuals on global mental health as well as advocate against social stigma. It's so simple for us to focus on practicing superb physical health that we forget to perform self-care and maintain our mental well-being. Sometimes facets of our lives don't happen as planned, and we may breakdown. It's ok to not be ok. It doesn't mean you're weak if you express your emotions. And it's fine if your brain is wired differently. What isn't acceptable is the stigma that surrounds mental health, especially in the Black community. My experiences, as well as the experiences of those around me have fueled my desire to become a mental health care professional and promote healthy ideals on obtaining help from experts. Below I have included some simple resources to help you with your mental wellness. Sound off in the comments and let me know how you're feeling, how your week has been, or whatever else you want to get off of your chest.
